The Implant

A fully implantable device that captures cortical activity with high fidelity — no external hardware on the skull, no wires through the skin.

ABILITY implantable device

Designed for life

The ABILITY implant is a medical-grade, hermetically sealed device designed for long-term implantation. It sits beneath the skull, directly on the cortical surface, capturing neural signals through a high-density ECoG electrode array.

Unlike penetrating electrode systems, ECoG electrodes rest on the brain surface without puncturing neural tissue — offering a safer profile with proven long-term stability.

All electronics are fully contained within the implant housing, including signal amplification, digitization, and an optical transmitter that sends data wirelessly through the skin.

Key features

Fully Implantable

No percutaneous connectors or external skull-mounted hardware. The entire device sits beneath the skin.

Battery-Free

The implant contains no battery. It is externally powered through its inductive interface, eliminating the need for surgical battery replacements.

ECoG Electrodes

High-density electrode array placed on the cortical surface captures neural signals with exceptional fidelity and long-term stability.

Optical Data Link

Wireless optical transmission through the skin eliminates the need for wired connections, reducing infection risk and improving quality of life.
